Lekan Otufodunrin; An Inspirational Journalist @61, By Qasim Akinreti

It is another memorable day for a colleague, media trainer, entrepreneur, and activist, Elder Lekan Otufodunrin, celebrating 61 years’ birthday 🎂

Fair in complexion and kind hearted ,Lekan as fondly called has gone through the mill of Journalism profession, Reporter, Features writer, News Editor, Online Editor, devouted media union member, media mentor and media trainer per excellon.

I knew Lekan as a Reporter with the Punch newspapers and he played his active role in the NUJ Lagos state Council creditably and retired voluntarily from the Nation Newspapers as Online Editor, to establish Journalism Media Career Development platform, committed to media mentorship, training and development of the media ecosystem.

Lekan and I had things in common. Aside from being reporters back then, Lekan and I are alumnus of the Poynter Institute of Media Studies, St Petersburg, Florida, US. I was at Poynter ahead of him though . Rose Moses of former Champion newspapers was our senior at the Poynter Institute.

As a media trainers and authors, we had opportunities to train the new generation of journalists at different foras.

We travelled together to Nairobi to represent Nigeria at the Religions and Rights Communication Conference.

Lekan served as the Chairman Education Committee of NUJ Lagos State Council 2017-2020.

Soft spoken, articulate and well cultured, Lekan understand the language of young people in the media profession and has continued to guide them rightly.

I doff my hat for a Journalist of impeccable character, leader of the Journalists For Christ group. A true Omoluabi of our time. More wins 🏆 🙌 👏 my brother.
